The 2022 racing season is almost upon us and with only a couple of weeks to go until the first round of the TCR UK at Oulton Park we are pleased to announce our entry into the championship.
Here at Restart Racing it was important to us that we entered a serious championship and surrounded ourselves with some trusted expertise within the team. The members of our team are brimming with experience and for the past six years we have benefitted from competing in the BTCC under various guises. Bert Taylor has been team manager, Chris Smiley a driver and race winner with his trusted race engineer Ben Taylor.
We are all familiar with the Honda Civic Type R FK7 and the circuits of the TCR UK series having tested and raced with the car for a couple of years.
Despite Chris driving for a different team and with a different car for the past couple of seasons it was always Ben who followed as his race engineer. To be reunited with Bert and back in a Honda feels like the stars have aligned and we are all eager to get the season underway which begins at Oulton Park over the Easter Weekend.

“It’s a new challenge and after several seasons in the touring cars I am excited to be trying something new whilst retaining the comfort of a strong team behind me whom I know very well.
“There is some familiarity with the FK7 although essentially like any season, we are starting with what is effectively a new car. It’s a new format for us, new drivers and what looks like an exciting championship to be a part of. I’m also very grateful to Cranswick Country Foods, who are one of a number of sponsors supporting me in my new journey.”
