Quotes from the sixth qualifying session of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season.
Chris Smiley: ““FP1 this morning went well, the car felt good. We made a few setup changes for FP2 and ended up fourth fastest, so I felt like we could make another step for qualifying.
I went out for my first run in qualifying and drove the car the same way I had all day, putting it in the same places. I was honestly astounded when I saw we’d lost a lap for track limits. It’s a bit strange after doing the same thing all day without issue. But yeah, it is what it is.
I haven’t had the chance to review the footage yet, so I’ll need to take a look to really understand what happened, but it’s just very frustrating, especially knowing we had the pace to be up on the front few rows.”

Dan Lloyd: “Yeah, mixed emotions today. It’s been a strong day overall, really great to get into Q3 for the first time at our home race, especially after a tough summer break.
We struggled a bit at the start of the session with some engine issues, but we turned it around and went P4 in Q2. Unfortunately, I got caught with track limits at a crucial time in Q3, and when I tried to rectify that, the engine actually went. So I had to pull in before finishing my final lap.
The team’s working hard now to get everything sorted for tomorrow. It was a really strong effort from everyone today and I feel like we’re in a good position, just a little bit concerned about the engine. Fingers crossed we get it fixed overnight, and if we do, I think we’ll be in a good place to fight.“
